(This week, General Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called same-sex relationships “immoral.” The remarks came during an interview with the Chicago Tribune when Pace was asked to comment on the military’s discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which bars gays and lesbians from serving openly in the U.S. Armed Forces. During the interview Pace also compared “homosexual acts” to “adulterous affairs.”) Follow the LINK for the rest of this story

I found this to be just plain unprofessional. He represents a very important institution. It seems to me like he used his position to relay his own opinions into the media. I There are thousands of U.S. Gay and Lesbian Soldiers in the military, can you imagine your leader telling you that your are immoral and not only that refusing to even apologize.

Movie from class

The movie we saw in class was a bit more of an eye opener for me. I really like music, I have favorite artists and I like their work. After I saw the film I almost felt like I was wrong for liking them. Artist like Beyonce and Shakira appeared in this film. I really like their style and their music. I usually appreciate most of their videos, but I feel like I finally actually saw what I was looking at. I been so desensitized when I watch videos that I only notice the obvious ( like half naked women all over rappers who provide the viewer with all sorts of sexual innuendos. I don't tend so see these artists as ridiculously over sexual in their videos or their music, but I think that it could be because their lyrics are not overly sexual, so I overlook those things in videos, I don't seem to take in the obvious I just accept it as another video and I'll label it as cute or something.

halloween

Halloween is here and everyone is in a frenzy to have the best costume, but best is defined as what exactly? Is it the most creative or the one with the best accessories or is it the one that bares the least?
Come on you all know what I am getting at. With every year that goes by Halloween becomes more of a fascination amongst the young. The thrill of being scared, the candy, the uniqueness of the celebration. How many times during the year can you dress up as whatever and it's OK. Only on saint Hallows eve.

It's the day when your imagination runs wild and some say it to be the day when you get to be someone else. You can be that person you really want to be with no fear of judgment because it's a costume, but judgment is passed regardless. Especially in modern times.

Costumes have turned in to point of argument and discussion mostly amongst young females. Where do you draw the line when expressing your other self in a costume. Is it OK to wear almost nothing just because it's halloween and thats your costume?

Jimmy John's Commercial

I noticed this commercial on TV the other day. So I think, maybe a soap commercial or shampoo. Not a Jimmy Johns commercial. I mean come on. Since when do we need to see women in the shower and dropping their towels to get us to buy a sand which. And she doesn't seem to mind that her towel is off since she's smiling and you get a glimpse of her foot as she cocks it to the side.
It could be that I am also a woman which is why it seems a bit wrong that her body is being used to sell food. Yes I very much understand that this happens in the media every day but that doesn't mean we need to over look it.
